How to go about editing your Review Paper for your MS applications- PART-3

This is the Part-3 to the series How to write a Review Paper for your MS applications. I have already covered Part-1 - How to choose the right topic for your Review Paper for your MS applications and Part- 2 - How to search content for your review paper for your MS applications.

So here I will be continuing by giving you all a direction on how to approach the structure of the review paper once you have gathered required information during your content hunt.First of all, get hold of the format of your paper if the competition/symposium already has mentioned one. Else, IEEE format is recommended to follow. The link to download the IEEE format is here: IEEE format.

Although you can structure your review paper as per your content and ideas, but it must contain the following sections:
1. Abstract:

This is the first thing that you will see in the format. But this is to be written only after you finish up with a proper structure of your paper, as in, what exactly your paper is going to be about. During the start itself you might have scribbled some points on what you were going to add, so keep that scribbled sheet safe and take it out. Look at all the abstracts from the papers you had referred to and get a hint on the level of professional language you will need to frame your abstract. An abstract should be of around 500-1000 words or below your word limit given to you. Start framing your scribbled ideas into the language in your reference papers. You will be editing this part of your paper a lot as you go further structuring your paper.

2. Introduction:

It should contain the scope of your research/ review work conducted with justification of why you did it. The justification must be done through facts. It should informally state your results as well.

ReMaterials

Company: ReMaterials
Sector: Waste Management
Founders: Hasit Ganatra (University of Southern California Alumni)

ReMaterials is an Ahmedabad-based startup that has developed an affordable, durable and environmental friendly roofing solution called ModRoof. The panels are made of a new wood-like material that is made entirely out of waste materials like cardboard and agricultural waste. The raw materials are currently sourced locally in Ahmedabad.

The manufacturing process involves a crushing stage, then a mixing stage, then a compression stage, drying stage and waterproofing stage. ReMaterials has designed the roof system in a way that makes it easy to transport, install and maintain. The roof panels can last over 20 years with minimal maintenance, according to the company. Not only is ModRoof durable, it is waterproof and fireproof and has heat insulating properties. Now they have prototyped solar cells integrated into ModRoof panels. Solar ModRoof panels can power LED lights and charge cell phones, adding to the long-term value of ModRoof ownership.

Carbon Clean Solutions

In this series, I will be posting about all the Start-ups in the field of Chemical Engineering for you all to get inspired and look out for!  Here is the 1st company I found while my start-up hunt:

Company: Carbon Clean Solutions
Sector: Renewables, CO2 Capture
Founder: Aniruddha Sharma (CEO), Prateek Bumb (CTO) ; IIT Kharagpur Almuni

Carbon Clean Solutions (CCS) is an innovation leader in carbon dioxide (CO2) separation technology for industrial and gas treating applications with an aim to provide customized low cost, energy efficient solutions for carbon dioxide separation.

CCS was founded in 2009 with the aim to develop new solvents for carbon dioxide separation with a focus on flue gases from power and industrial utilities. In 2010, Company raised equity funding from global set of investors to establish dedicated research and bench scale testing facility. In 2012, CCS expanded globally and signed research & development agreement with TNO (Dutch Organization for Applied Scientific Research) based in the Netherlands. As of January 2013, CCS now operates in India, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Patented carbon capture technology developed by Carbon Clean Solutions, involves capturing carbon dioxide using proprietary regenerable solvent. The flue gas discharged from the chimney is extracted from the existing stack and fed to the CCS unit through a flue gas duct. After cleaning the gas, it is passed through a cyclic absorption-desorption process for capturing CO2.

They recently did a project with Tuticorin alkali and chemical fertilizers to produce soda ash with captured CO2. Way to go!
