Details about Masters admission to National University of Singapore through GATE marks

GATE score can be used to get admissions in foreign universities like National University of Singapore (NUS, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and some other German universities as well. Here are some details I dug up for you all on how you can use you GATE score to get admissions at one of the universities: NUS.

NUS has 2 types of graduate programs as follows:

1. Coursework based program.
2. Research oriented program.

Coursework based program is similar to M.tech in India. Admitted students have to attend coursework lectures and clear semester exams. This is aimed at providing additional skills to working professionals. This is a full time program, but the classes will be held during morning and evening hours. Admission to coursework based program is NOT competitive and you don't need any Letter of recommendations. [Please check website though].

The research based program is like an introduction to PhD. This is a full-time course, wherein you attend lectures which are relevant to your research area. Some courses might be compulsory, so do check that. The admission to this program is competitive. You will need strong letter of recommendations, your profile should scream an aptitude for research ad good GPA.

For coursework based program GRE is optional, but do give GRE to give some weight to your application as when the number of applicants is high, they may filter using GRE scores. For research oriented programs you can submit either GRE score or GATE score.
TOEFL is mandatory for both coursework based and research oriented program. If you are applying for PhD. you will be taken in for research based program. At the end of the program you can decide whether to end your masters, or proceed to PhD.

The coursework based program is NOT funded for INDIAN students. Only the students from ASEAN [not to be confused with Asian] countries will get funded. As for the research based program, all students will be funded.

How to go about editing your Review Paper for your MS applications- PART-3

This is the Part-3 to the series How to write a Review Paper for your MS applications. I have already covered Part-1 - How to choose the right topic for your Review Paper for your MS applications and Part- 2 - How to search content for your review paper for your MS applications.

So here I will be continuing by giving you all a direction on how to approach the structure of the review paper once you have gathered required information during your content hunt.First of all, get hold of the format of your paper if the competition/symposium already has mentioned one. Else, IEEE format is recommended to follow. The link to download the IEEE format is here: IEEE format.

Although you can structure your review paper as per your content and ideas, but it must contain the following sections:
1. Abstract:

This is the first thing that you will see in the format. But this is to be written only after you finish up with a proper structure of your paper, as in, what exactly your paper is going to be about. During the start itself you might have scribbled some points on what you were going to add, so keep that scribbled sheet safe and take it out. Look at all the abstracts from the papers you had referred to and get a hint on the level of professional language you will need to frame your abstract. An abstract should be of around 500-1000 words or below your word limit given to you. Start framing your scribbled ideas into the language in your reference papers. You will be editing this part of your paper a lot as you go further structuring your paper.

2. Introduction:

It should contain the scope of your research/ review work conducted with justification of why you did it. The justification must be done through facts. It should informally state your results as well.
